Privacy Notice

Thank you for visiting www.livingwordmission.org.ng (hereinafter known as “us”, “we”, “site” or “the site”). The site is managed by Living Word Mission (hereinafter known as “La Vie Mot Global Mission”, “we”, or “LIWOM). To better protect your privacy, we provide this privacy notice to explain how we collect and utilize the information you provide us while using the site.

We are committed to keeping your privacy and providing you with the best user experience while using the features on our site.

This notice covers personally identifiable information such as relating to a natural person, anonymous data, and aggregate report. By personally identifiable information, we refer to information that enables us to identify who uses our site such as email and name.

What data we collect

When you sign up to receive newsletter update from us, you provide personal information such as name and email. Also, during either login and registration to use the site as an author, editor, user, moderator, or administrator, you provide us with personal information that includes but not limited to name, address, email, password, social media account, and website. Similarly, we collect your email and name when you use the contact or comment form on the site.

We also collect anonymous data when you browse our site. We may collect and log the IP (Internet Protocol) address of your device, browser, and type of device. This information provides us with details of the parts of the site you visited, the user experience, and duration spent using the features.  However, we do not link these pieces of information to your personal information except you have logged in to the site.

When you choose to use our online donation service, we may collect your name, card details, email, and address for processing such donation. This is, however, handled by a third-party integration service – Paystack.

Cookies

Just like most websites, we use a standard technology called a “cookie” to collect information about how you use the site. Note, however, that we do not track or collect personal information beyond what you provide us.

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

These cookies collectively help us to personalize your experience on the site. You have the ability to accept or decline cookies. However, doing so will deprive you of some of the experiences on the site. By default, most web browsers accept cookies, but you can change this behaviour to accept or decline manually or all cookies.

How we use the data we collect

We collect both personal and anonymous information as detailed in the “what data we collect” section. We may use this information to:

  • To improve your user experience on the site. For example, auto-approval of your comments and login flexibility.
  • To respond to your enquiries, suggestions, comments, and observations.
  • To provide you with updates on our latest activities, reports, research, projects, and discoveries.
  • To request your assistance in participating in optional surveys.
  • To understand how you best use our sites and how to serve you the contents in the best possible accessible way.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Who we share your data with

We do not sell or rent your personal information to third parties. However, we may disclose your information if required that we do so by legal proceeding.

To improve your experience on the site, we integrate relevant third-party processors. These third-party processors enable us to utilize their services in providing you with updates and features. The data you provide us may be processed by all, few or any of the following third-party processors:

  • Paystack
  • Mailchimp

We will not share your personal information with third-parties without your permission, other than what is mentioned in this notice. We will only use it for the purposes stated in this notice. Again, your personal information helps us to provide personalized services to you such as email updates, records update, responding to enquiries, providing information about our operations, and handling complaints.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

So, we do not hold your information longer than necessary and you are obliged to request erasure when no longer interested in our services or updates.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

To protect your privavcy and security, we will also take reasonable steps to verify your identity, such as password and username before granting you access to your data.

Please contact us if you require further clarification, access or need updating your data above that which is provided on the website.

Where we send your data

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

How we protect your data

We strictly protect your privacy and ensure the security of your personal information. So, we protect your data against misuse, loss, unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction.

We do not share your personal data outside without your permission, except as stated herein. Your password(s) and confidential information are stored in a secured server with limited access.

We also use SSL encryption on the website when collecting or transferring sensitive data such as credit card and personal details. Note that credit card numbers are only used for processing payments when you use our online donation feature, and not for any other purpose.

You also have a significant role in protecting your information. No one can see or edit your personal information without knowing the sensitive details such as card number, password, and username. So, keep these safe from others.

What data breach procedures we have in place

We value your comments and opinions. If you have questions, comments, observations, or a complaint about compliance with this notice, you may contact us.

LIWOM has the right and discretion to update this privacy notice at any time. When we do, we will revise the updated date at the bottom of the page. We encourage you to often check this page for any changes to stay informed about how we collect, use and protect your information.

You acknowledge and agree that it is your responsibility to review this notice periodically and become aware of modifications.
